What’s the story about? Since this is my first novel, I obviously have no previous experience in releasing books, so there’s no way I’ll be able to tell how the book will be received, nor how well it will sell. But I can tell you this about the book: it’s not a shoot-em-up sci-fi with outrageously colossal spaceships and exploding planets and heavily armed astrosoldiers who run around shooting everybody and everything in sight just to rescue the poor, pitiable hostages (including the vivacious female often dressed in skimpy clothing) taken prisoner by the malevolent, vindictive overweight villain (so frequently dressed in black) and held in all those dirty underground cages along with vicious bloodthirsty monsters whose only object in life is to provide entertainment for the villain and the reader . . . and so on and so forth. I think you can probably tell where I’m going with this. Nor is it filled with cumbersome dialogue of dense, obtuse terms that take several re-readings to understand. EXPLORER is about people, people put in difficult situations with only their wits and a few easily recognizable objects to help them get out of. It doesn’t even take place in the future. It does utilize a faster-than-light spaceship, but that’s not the focus of the book. It’s the people who count, the characters I’m hoping you will be able to relate to and understand.
